In my role as Māori representative on the Point Chevalier school board of trustees, I read many league tables and analysed reports pertaining to Māori achievement  in the education system. There is much work to be done, in creating better outcomes for Māori youth in educationally and living standards. There are organisations out there working hard to accomplish this goal, but it requires Māori themselves to start working in these fields, at a higher level.   I wish to gain employment that will enable me to make a difference. The role of media has a vital part to play in the journey to a more fair and equitable society, and this is why, I would like to work in this industry.

 

The goal that is dearest to my heart, is to see my children, succeed and thrive in the lives they lead. Hopefully the values Tim and I have tried hard to instill in them, will hold them in good stead, when they make their way in the world.
